KNOCK
Opening to Possibility
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7: 7-8)
The above is a bible verse that has always captured my imagination. As a seeker of truth, I love the idea that if I seek, I will find. For most of my life, however, I did not feel that I was necessarily finding what I was looking for. It always felt that there was a secret to which I was not privy.
There was a distinct period, however, when things began to shift for me. It was around 2016 and things in my life were feeling chaotic. I was questioning many ideas about God that I had been taught in my youth. What was I to do when I simply did not believe in the dogma set out by the church?
If God was omniscient then surely It knew my heart. Pretense was not an option. And so, based on this one bible verse, I decided to go straight to the Source.
“God, please, show me the way,” became my mantra. With a new sense of humility that I could feel as reverence in my heart, I went about watching, observing, and staying open to answers.
Looking back now, I can see that this was all it took to unlock the door. It was the door to my mind.
As I began to push it open, all kinds of questions came to me; Are aliens real? Do psychic mediums really connect with those who have crossed over? How is everything in the Universe made of one thing called energy?
Some questions were serious, some hilarious, but they all had one thing in common. The thread tying them together was possibility and that felt like freedom!
I pushed the door open wide, ready to cross the threshold.
